Published purpose
This project will revitalize nature trails and associated infrastructure at twelve southern Ontario sites managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. The sites include Hawkridge (Lyndhurst); Maple Cross (Milford); Mary West (Campbellford); Hazel Bird (Baltimore); Shining Rainbow Deer (Tobermory); Happy Valley Forest (King City); Riverbend (Goderich); Lathrop (Fonthill); Port Franks Forested Dunes (Port Franks); Frank Miller Nature Reserve and Backus Woods (Walsingham); Pelee (Pelee Island); and Gillies Grove (Arnprior). The project involves multiple activities including creating new and enhancing existing trails, installing parking lots, shade/picnic structures, new signs, benches, and constructing other infrastructure to enhance a trail experience and block access of motorized vehicles. Over 500m of boardwalk will be upgraded and over 300m of new boardwalk will be created.
