Published purpose
February 13, 2013 - Since early January 2013, heavy rains across the southern Africa region have resulted in widespread flooding. In Mozambique, which has been hit the hardest, the torrential rains have caused the destruction of houses, schools, health centres, and crops and forced affected populations to leave their homes in search of safer areas. With Canada's support, the World Food Programme is providing immediate life-saving food assistance for 150,000 flood-affected people in southern Mozambique and livelihoods support (such as 'cash for work') and/or agricultural inputs (seeds and tools) to 30,000 people to support recovery of flood damaged crops.
