Published purpose

March 2013 - Over the last two years, the conflict in Syria has escalated and triggered refugee flows across the region. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees have fled to Lebanon and require humanitarian assistance. With CIDA support, Save the Children Canada addresses the immediate child protection, education and livelihoods needs of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. The project is targeting 8,000 unregistered Syrian refugees, Palestinians refugees fleeing Syria, Lebanese returnees and vulnerable Lebanese host families. Save the Children is creating “Child-Friendly Spaces” to provide children with psychosocial support and access to safe play areas including education. The project provides training to community members on child protection issues, provides newly arrived refugee families with access to basic services, and distributes cash grants to vulnerable families to meet their basic needs.
