Published purpose

This project aims to increase women’s participation and leadership in political institutions and decision-making across political and civic spaces in Lebanon, embracing diversity. Project activities include: (1) providing training, coaching, and networking support to women leaders in parliament, municipal councils, syndicates, and universities. It does so to encourage women to be prominent, effective, and independent leaders; (2) establishing women leaders’ groups at the municipal level and building their capacities to develop local action plans, carry out initiatives, voice women’s priorities, and demand and influence local decision-makers; (3) providing technical support to feminist coalitions and the national women’s rights machinery to enhance their capacity to build alliances and advocate for gender-responsive reforms. It focuses on issues such as personal status, sexual and gender-based violence, nationality reform, and quotas in elected bodies; (4) supporting evidence-based advocacy to promote gender equality and women's political participation. This includes challenging gender norms and stereotypes, promoting women in leadership roles, and encouraging men’s engagement in care and home duties; and (5) implementing initiatives to prevent and respond to violence against women in politics such as cyber-bullying
