Published purpose

This project supports a grassroots movement in the Anbar and Ninewah Governorates in Iraq to prevent retributive violence and protect vulnerable populations. This initiative also establishes community-driven civil-military committees to allow civil society, local authorities and the security sector to address grievances linked with retributive violence. Project activities include: (1) conducting working-sessions for civil society organizations to co-ordinate activities in support to the anti-retribution movement; (2) developing a media campaign in support to the anti-retribution movement; and, (3) establishing civil-military committees to address grievances that could lead to retributive violence.
