P000821001: The Aga Khan Development Network’s Health Action Plan for Afghanistan (HAPA) is a five-year, multi-donor initiative that aims to improve the health status of the population in selected provinces of Afghanistan (Badakhshan, Baghlan and Bamyan), with a focus on women of reproductive age and children under five. HAPA works at the national level with health education and training institutions and the Ministry of Public Health. Global Affairs Canada is supporting this initiative in collaboration with the "Agence Française de Développement" (AFD) [French Development Agency]. Project activities include: (1) improving the quality and expanding the range of health services in remote and rural areas; (2) strengthening the availability and quality of health human resources; and (3) improving health practices among rural population, especially in the area of nutrition. HAPA aims to directly benefit 1,264,022 people, including 495,598 women, 525,732 men, 123,773 girls and 118,919 boys (below five years of age).
