Published purpose
March 2018 - The humanitarian situation in Cameroon continues to be of deep concern and affects millions of vulnerable people. In the Far North region, 2.1 million people are in need of assistance following conflict and insecurity related to Boko Haram, which represents about 65% of all needs across the country. Of particular concern are protection of civilians, food security and access to water, sanitation and hygiene. With GAC’s support, Development and Peace is helping to assist up to 24,000 conflict-affected people in the Far North region. Project activities include: (1) training of up to 40 community influencers in gender-based violence and its causes and consequences; (2) constructing or rehabilitating up to 49 water points, benefitting up to 24,000 people; and (3) providing unconditional cash transfers to women from extremely vulnerable households, benefiting up to 176 women and their household.
