Published purpose
This project supports the short-term food needs of approximately 66,000 people (of which 60-70 % are women and children) in both displaced and host communities in Paniykang, Malakal, Nasir, Melut, Longochuk and Ulang counties of Upper Nile State, some of the most conflict-affected areas of South Sudan. The project distributes emergency livelihood kits, which include such items as farming tools, fishing equipment, cooking stoves and animal vaccines. The kits are designed to encourage large-scale emergency food production, protect agricultural related livelihoods and help reduce the level of food aid required to keep people alive during this critical period. The project also intends to provide training to ensure that the kit materials are used properly.
