Published purpose

June 2, 2014 - Heavy rainfall has caused massive floods and landslides in Serbia. The floods are said to be the worst in 120 years and have brought significant destruction. An estimated 1.6 million people have been affected. The Government of the Republic of Serbia has requested international assistance in responding to this disaster. With DFATD’s support through the Canadian Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, in partnership with the Red Cross of Serbia, is helping people affected by the floods in Serbia. Project activities include: (1) distribution of food to 2,400 vulnerable families; (2) provision of water, sanitation and hygiene promotion to 10,000 families; (3) assistance to 10,000 families to return home; and, (4) provision of early and adequate psychosocial support.
