Published purpose

June 2, 2014 - Heavy rainfall has caused massive floods and landslides in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The floods are said to be the worst in 120 years and have brought significant destruction. An estimated 1.5 million people have been affected. The Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina has requested international assistance in responding to this disaster. With GAC’s support, Save the Children Canada will provide assistance to 12,400 flood-affected families in Zenica-Doboj Canton. Project activities include: (1) distribution of essential household kits; (2) provision of water and hygiene kits; (3) provision of child-friendly spaces where children can play, socialize and express themselves; (4) responding to the needs of infants and pregnant and lactating women in collective centres; and, (5) cleaning up and refurbishing school facilities.
