Published purpose

This project supports the development of a conference on developing country needs and experiences. The event convenes high-level Canadian officials as well as other senior government representatives, civil society participants from developing countries, academics, experts in relevant policy sectors, and private sector participants. The conference is focusing on the critical themes of trade and development, the role of science and technology in development policy, governance in the extractive industry, and economic development in the francophone world. Discussing these important themes is helping Canadian policy makers to support stronger development outcomes and innovative poverty reduction initiatives. The conference is organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a non-profit research organization. CSIS intends to share policy recommendations on key themes from the conference, as well as two audio podcast interviews: one on economic growth in the Francophone World and one on the role of science and technology in development.
