Published purpose
In Ethiopia, despite the economy growing at a rapid pace, women are employed more in the informal sector, have much higher rates of unemployment, and are paid less than men for the same jobs. Taking a feminist approach and building on proven results, this project addresses the social, financial and business challenges that prevent Ethiopian women from obtaining the financial and technical support needed to run successful businesses. The project aims to develop and test the impacts of experimental approaches to women’s economic empowerment. The project is implemented in five regions across Ethiopia and aims to benefit 25,000 women. The project’s impact is to empower women to have greater influence and leadership in the business sector.
