Published purpose
The project aims to improve the economic prosperity of people working in waste management in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, particularly women and marginalized groups. The project also seeks to prevent plastic waste from entering the oceans. Project activities include: (1) supporting the growth of innovative businesses in the waste management sector; (2) building the capacity of waste pickers and women’s organizations involved in waste management; and (3) strengthening municipal government waste management policies and plans. The project works to support the entire waste management economy, such as informal waste pickers, businesses, community organizations, and local governments.
