Published purpose

P001327001: The project aims to increase the capacity of the Government of Ethiopia to efficiently implement and scale up the Agricultural Growth Program-Phase II (AGP II) which is designed to increase agricultural production, productivity and better link smallholder farmers to markets. Activities include: (1) training, on the job coaching to the Ministry of Agriculture’s human resources at the federal, regional, zonal and indirectly at the district level; (2) support to establish efficient coordination and consultations mechanisms with all relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Trade; Recruitment of Canadian and local expertise to provide specific technical support particularly for the new dimensions of AGP II. P001327002: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project is implementing immediate response activities targeting men and women farmers. These activities include providing personal protective equipment such as mask, soap, sanitizers; developing COVID-19 communication materials on prevention and management of transmission; and expanding the gender toolkit for training men and women farmers. This funding increase to respond to COVID builds on the existing Capacity Development Support Facility initiative. This initiative supports the Government of Ethiopia in implementing and scaling up the Agricultural Growth Program-Phase II to increase agricultural production and productivity, and link smallholder farmers to markets. This is done by building the capacity of federal, regional, and zonal government staff to develop, train, and facilitate programs of implementing agencies and project coordination units.
