Published purpose
The project aims to support the Strategic Planning and Monitoring Unit (SPMU), within the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General (EOSG), which works to spearhead initiatives to catalyse stronger whole-of-United Nations (UN) analysis, planning and monitoring in fragile and conflict-affected states. The project works to assist with the design, operations and transition planning for UN peace operations, the development of UN regional strategies, appeals and joint programmes. This work also aims to operationalize commitments in the joint UN/World Bank “Pathways for Peace” report, the “Sustaining Peace” resolutions and the “Action for Peacekeeping” agenda leading to more preventive, coherent, data-driven, efficient and effective – and gender-sensitive – UN system results in fragile and conflict affected states.
