Published purpose
The project aims to enhance the social and economic empowerment of women and girls, especially from Dalit, and most vulnerable groups by implementing proven poverty reduction measures. The project aims to bring a human rights-based approach to economic and social growth, focusing on climate change adaptation, enhanced performance of micro/small-scale enterprises, increased access to the products and services required by these enterprises, as well as on the social empowerment of women and girls enabling them to effectively engage in their communities. The project also works to strengthen women’s and girl’s aspirations, confidence, decision-making autonomy and leadership, while also promoting a strong sense of community inclusion and sisterhood. Project activities include: (1) enhancing agricultural livelihoods through diversification and appropriate practices; (2) increasing the membership of community-level women’s groups; (3) increasing community knowledge and understanding of human rights issues affecting the most vulnerable women and girls; and (4) increasing capacity of local partner NGOs serving women and girls to advocate for human rights.
