This project works to promote the meaningful participation of lesbian, bisexual, gay, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people in peacebuilding efforts in Colombia. Project activities include: (1) preparing research and documentation on conflict-related violence against LGBTI people, including a focus on Afro-Colombian trans and cis-lesbian women for Colombia’s transitional justice mechanism and relevant international bodies; (2) providing training sessions for Afro-LGBTI civil society organizations on guidelines for documenting cases for Colombia’s transitional justice mechanism and carrying out advocacy at the regional, national and international levels; and (3) raising advocacy/public awareness on the situation of LGBTI victims (with a focus on Afro-LGBTI victims), with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the United Nations Independent Expert of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity; as well as to local and regional authorities in the target regions of the project.
