Published purpose
The project contributes towards the realization of children’s rights to quality education by supporting learning continuity among in-school and out-of-school children in the cities of Paranaque, Taguig, and Pateros. In line with the Philippines’ Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan for COVID-19, the project aims to improve the learning environment of 6 to 12 year olds in homes, communities, and care institutions, as well as to support the government in the roll-out of distance-based education. Project activities include: (1) distributing learning and communication materials/ gadgets; (2) developing a parenting program that provides cash assistance and training on gender-equitable parenting; (3) improving capacity building within care institutions; (4) developing home-based assessments for government to monitor children’s learning and well-being; and (5) establishing communication platforms to strengthen stakeholder engagement. The project directly benefits 51,595 children, parents, caregivers, teachers, and local government officials, of which 24,848 are girls and 2,360 are women.
