Published purpose

P008979001: Through building the capacity of health structures and community-based health delivery systems such as mobile clinics and community health care, this project will support improved and equitable access to health care services for conflict-affected populations, especially women and girls and populations furthest from health facilities. The project will also employ a community based approach to promote rights, reduce gender inequality and address issues related to reproductive rights and gender based violence (GBV) in insecure areas, including educating communities on women's sexual and reproductive rights, enhancing women's decision-making power, and advocacy on gender based violence (GBV). In addition, the project will contribute to Burkina Faso’s national response plan to the COVID-19 pandemic, and build capacity of health systems in northern Burkina Faso to better respond to the pandemic, and help prevent and manage future disease outbreaks. Project activities include: (1) Implementation of primary health care and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services, including the management and care of GBV, mental health, and psychosocial services for conflict affected populations; (2) Implementation of community health strategies, including direct delivery of services in conflict affected communities, such as IDPs and host communities; (3) Technical assistance provided to health authorities to respond and manage epidemics, including COVID-19; (4) Engagement with men and adolescents to change community behaviours and beliefs around the right to health, gender equality and gender based violence, in particular among host communities and IDPs.
