Published purpose

The purpose of this project is to increase public security in Haiti by impacting homicide and kidnapping rates, the annual level of victimization and the feeling of insecurity. This project is a Canadian contribution to the United Nations multi-donor basket fund for security. It focuses on improving and rapidly increasing the Haitian National Police’s capacity to redress insecurity, ensure law enforcement and reduce institutions’ vulnerability. Project activities include: (1) supporting the definition of more feminized profiles in recruitment; (2) rehabilitation of 15 to 20 police stations and sub-police stations in the West Department; (3) supporting the design of specialized training modules on various aspects of criminal investigation; (4) training and mentoring for the personnel of the anti-kidnapping unit; and (5) setting up the infrastructure for the creation of the cybercrime unit. This portion of the project is also tied to P-011099-002 and P-011099-003.
