This Project aims to reduce the incidence of COVID-19 related death and serious illness, particularly amongst priority groups and vulnerable populations, by increasing equitable access to and uptake of COVID-19 vaccines in five countries in the African region. The Project will support health systems strengthening to enable the delivery of gender-equitable COVID-19 vaccination and routine health services. With GAC’s support, the World Health Organization (WHO) is working in Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Senegal and Tanzania to promote effective, transparent, and accountable country systems; increase donor coordination and harmonization; and strengthen mutual accountability.
