Published purpose
May 2024 - Bangladesh continues to experience widespread flooding in the North East and Jamuna basin, in addition to continuing to respond to the impacts of the Cyclone Remal which hit the country on May 26, 2024. An estimated 8.3 million people are affected by Cyclone Remal and the North-Eastern floods, with an additional 5 million predicted to be affected by floods in the Jamuna basin.? With GAC’s support, the WFP will provide lifesaving assistance to crisis-affected people in Bangladesh. Project activities include: (1) distribution of immediate food assistance; and (2) provision of emergency cash assistance.
