Published purpose

This project is part of Canada’s Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Program, which supports local and regional women’s organizations and networks that are working to promote women’s rights, and advance women’s empowerment and gender equality in developing countries. This is done by supporting their activities, building institutional capacity, and promoting network and alliance-building, as women’s rights and feminist organizations are critical agents of change. The Program also responds to the significant, globally recognized gap in funding and support to women’s rights organizations and movements around the world. The project is facilitated by CARE and implemented under the leadership of Women-Lead Organizations and networks themselves, offering space for them to determine key priorities, selection processes, and results, and will remain flexible to the context and needs of the South Sudan women’s rights movement. This initiative will support an estimated 25 WLOs and 8 networks with multiyear, flexible, operational funding to strengthen their structure, enhance their management and programming capacities, all while improving their ability to sustain their organization's and service delivery with additional predictable funding. Additionally, 40 rapid response funds (RRFs) will be allocated to address emergent needs.
