Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) proposes the Indo-Pacific Mobility Initiative (TMU-IPMI), a three-year program to strengthen academic engagement with the Indo-Pacific through scholarships and fellowships for study, research, and collaboration. The initiative will award 22 total awards (12 scholarships and 10 fellowships) for short- to medium-term placements (4–5 months) in priority countries including India, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. Scholarships ($22,150) will support graduate students, while fellowships ($17,625) will fund faculty and researcher mobility. Thematic priorities include climate change, smart cities, digital technologies, public health, migration, and Indigenous knowledge. TMU-IPMI emphasizes equity, diversity, and inclusion in participant selection and program design, and leverages existing partnerships and co-funding opportunities to ensure value for money. The program aligns with Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy by fostering reciprocal academic partnerships, advancing innovation, and preparing globally engaged scholars and leaders.
