Published purpose

This project aims to enhance the capacity of national and sub-national governments to integrate wildfire risk management as a standardized component of regional, national, and local disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategies. The project seeks to bolster country resilience to wildfires across Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting evidence-based decision-making for wildfire risk reduction, strengthening technical capacity for improved governance to reduce wildfire risk, and integrating sustainable wildfire management practices into national and local planning through multi-stakeholder collaboration and public-private partnerships. The intervention aligns with the principles of the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction, to which Canada is a signatory.
