Published purpose
This project aims to foster electoral readiness, political participation, and democratic renewal in Palestine by supporting democratic institutions and civil society to advance local and national electoral processes, including but not limited to the scheduled April 2026 local elections and the November 2026 Palestinian National Council (PNC) elections. Project activities include: 1) conduct independent monitoring and technical assessments of upcoming electoral processes, evaluating legal, administrative, and political dimensions with particular attention to the inclusion of women and other vulnerable groups; and (2) establish an International Observer Coordination Unit (OCU) to support impartial observation efforts and facilitate coordination with diplomatic missions. This project seeks to directly benefit members of election management bodies, including officials of the Central Elections Commission and Ministry of Local Government, international election observers and civil society organizations. This project also aims to indirectly benefit approximately 2.8 million eligible voters in the West Bank and 1.2 million potential voters in Gaza, 49% of whom are women.
