Published purpose
The project supports gender-sensitive endline data collection to produce new evidence on the effectiveness of peacebuilding initiatives, including reaching women and vulnerable groups. The project focuses on Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) supported projects implemented by five UN agencies from 2020 to 2022 in conflict-affected regions in Darfur, Sudan. The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) implements this project on behalf of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office. Project activities include: (1) preparing qualitative interview questions and structured observations; (2) conducting visits to administer interview questions; (3) designing household surveys and training enumerators to complete the survey; and (4) performing quality assurance and managing data. This programming represents the current state of the art of project design to support a rights-based agenda. The evidence generated by this project will be applicable in Darfur and beyond, providing a lasting public good both in the impact evaluation and the fine-grained dataset itself.
