Published purpose
Despite various peace agreements signed over the past few years, Sudan continues to face several humanitarian crises due to conflict. In South Sudan, need remains high as nearly three million people continue to return to a land bereft of even the most basic infrastructure and must now rely on the humanitarian system for food, water, medical care and shelter. With CIDA support, World Vision is increasing the access of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) returning to South Sudan to primary health care services (with a focus on maternal and child health care, reproductive health, and immunization services), safe water sources and adequate sanitation facilities, knowledge of proper hygiene practices (to prevent the spread of disease), and protection services for vulnerable community members. This project aims to benefit nearly 180,000 people.
