Published purpose

Colombia has the highest internally displaced population in the western hemisphere, and the second-largest displaced population in the world after Sudan, with estimates ranging between 1.8 and 3.7 million internally displaced people over the past 20 years. Without official registration and proper identity documents, it is difficult for displaced people to access key humanitarian and social services offered by the Government. Moreover, threats to rural populations by illegal armed groups increasingly restrict movement and limit access to markets and agricultural land, and consequently to food and other goods. This project aims to meet the food needs of an estimated 530,000 displaced and vulnerable people in Colombia who cannot be reached through government humanitarian and social sector programs.
