Published purpose

October 2012 - Humanitarian conditions in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have deteriorated considerably since April 2012 due to increased activity by armed groups. The situation remains particularly volatile in the east, as insecurity and fighting continues to generate internal displacement, as well as externally to neighbouring countries. With Canada's support, Oxfam-Québec will provide emergency assistance to address the increased needs of up to 185,000 internally displaced people and conflict-affected populations in Kanyaruchinya/Kibati, North Kivu. Oxfam-Québec will increase access to clean water and sanitation facilities, improve hygiene practices, and improve protection for populations affected by the conflict.
