Published purpose
This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). UNHCR uses these funds, along with other donors funding, to achieve its mandate. UNHCR’s mandate is to provide international protection and assistance to refugees and to search for durable solutions to their situations. UNHCR defends refugee rights, promotes effective partnerships with other organizations, and develops diplomatic initiatives aimed at preventing and mitigating the conditions that cause refugee movements.
