Published purpose
5 January 2011 - Pakistan recently experienced the worst monsoon flooding in its history. At its height, over 20 million people were affected, and over 7 million people were made homeless by the flooding. While most of the flood-affected people have returned to their home areas, approximately 14 million people still require humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs, and to begin the process of resuming their normal lives. CIDA is supporting Oxfam Canada to provide humanitarian and early recovery assistance in the sectors of water and sanitation to 200,000 flood-affected people in Sindh Province. In addition, Oxfam Canada is providing shelter material to 2,000 vulnerable households (14,000 people) in four severely flood-affected districts in Sindh.
