Published purpose
The Complex Emergency Database (CE-DAT) was created in 2003 to provide access to reliable health indicators for humanitarian decision-making. The overall goal of the project is to reduce mortality, disease and suffering due to conflicts through the provision of key nutritional, health and mortality indicators for rational evidence-based decision-making. The project seeks to strengthen the capacity of national and international organizations to collect reliable health data, provide a better understanding of health vulnerabilities and risk factors, and enhance the reliability and useability of CE-DAT data for humanitarian policy and program decision-making.
