Published purpose
This grant is Canada’s institutional support to the International Trade Centre (ITC). The Centre acts as the focal point within the United Nations system for trade-related assistance to developing countries. Established in 1968, its mission is to help small enterprises in developing countries achieve success as exporters. The Centre provides assistance by making policy environments friendlier for export business, by strengthening the institutions that provide support to exporters, and by assisting small export enterprises and communities to reach global markets with products and services. The Centre’s Strategic Plan (2012-2015) identifies four strategic objectives: (1) improve the availability and use of trade intelligence; (2) enhance trade support institutions and policies; (3) increase enterprise competitiveness; and (4) mainstream inclusiveness and sustainability into trade promotion and export development policies and initiatives.
