Published purpose

This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). OCHA uses these funds, along with other donors’ funding, to achieve its mandate. The mission of OCHA is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national actors in order to coordinate humanitarian response, advocate humanitarian issues, and humanitarian policy development. OCHA’s work focuses on its overall objective of mobilizing and coordinating effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to: alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate for the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention; and facilitate sustainable solutions. Canada’s support contributes to ensuring that OCHA can continue to deliver and improve its coordination and, increasingly, its leadership role as it responds to growing humanitarian needs.
