Published purpose

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration which works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM’s mandate is to ensure the orderly and humane management of displaced populations, promote international cooperation on displacement issues, as well as assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and provide humanitarian assistance to targeted displaced populations. CIDA funding is supporting IOM operations in Zimbabwe and Haiti. Activities include: health and psychosocial support; distribution of food and non-food items; increasing access to water and sanitation; and increased access to shelter.
