Published purpose

The Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN) is a network of 17 donors (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States) with a common interest in assessing the organizational effectiveness of the major multilateral organizations they fund. It examines whether multilateral organizations have in place four strategic dimensions of organizational effectiveness: strategic, operational, relationship and knowledge management. In 2012, the MOPAN methodology expanded to include an assessment framework for results achieved by multilateral organisations. MOPAN findings: generate relevant and credible information that MOPAN members can use to meet their accountability requirements; support dialogue between donors, multilateral organizations and their partners at the country level on how to improve effectiveness and learning; respond to the recognized need for a common, comprehensive multilateral organization assessment system.
