Published purpose

With CIDA support, Oxfam Canada is helping to address the emergency water and sanitation needs of the growing population of internally displaced persons residing in the Afgooye Corridor and the suburbs of Mogadishu as a result of the ongoing conflict in Somalia. Specific activities include: the establishment, improvement, extension, or rehabilitation of water distribution systems (boreholes, pipelines, storage facilities, and distribution points) in the targeted internally displaced persons (IDP) camps; the establishment or rehabilitation of 1,350 pit latrines; the training of water and environmental sanitation committees; and, the distribution of child-friendly health and hygiene promotion materials.
