Published purpose

This grant represents CIDA’s support to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to lead efforts to improve the international humanitarian response system. OCHA, as the lead agency for the coordination of humanitarian action, plays a key and central role in spearheading the international community's efforts to improve the architecture of the humanitarian system. Couched under the term ‘Transformative Agenda,’ these efforts focus on strengthening the leadership, coordination, and accountability of humanitarian response. In particular, OCHA will undertake actions to improve cluster coordination, the caliber of humanitarian leaders, programme cycle management, needs assessment, information management, and strategic planning and monitoring.
