Published purpose

With CIDA support, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is addressing the basic needs of an increased caseload of Sudanese refugees in South Sudan during the second half of 2012. Due to ongoing conflict, the number of Sudanese refugees seeking protection in South Sudan significantly increased in 2012, from 85,000 at the beginning of the year to over 200,000 at mid-year. Activities focus on the management of camps and the provision, in cooperation with other humanitarian agencies, of food, water and sanitation, medical support, shelter, transportation and relocation of refugees to established camps away from conflict areas, and protection to camp residents.
