Published purpose

December 2012 - The IFRC is a global humanitarian organization that is part of the Red Cross Movement. The IFRC coordinates and directs international assistance following natural disasters in four core areas: promoting humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and community care. The IFRC works with National Societies in responding to emergencies in countries around the world. With Canada's support, the Turkish Red Crescent Society (TRCS) will assist people displaced by the crisis in Syria. The TRCS will provide urgent winterization support to Syrian refugees living in camps in southern Turkey, as well as essential food and non-food relief items to vulnerable Syrians at the Turkish-Syrian border. This programming also includes the provision of contingency stocks for an additional influx of 50,000 Syrians for a period of 6 months.
