Published purpose

March 2013: Colombia continues to face the consequences of a longstanding armed conflict between several illegal armed groups and the Colombian military. This conflict has a significant humanitarian impact on the civilian population. With Canada's support, Action Against Hunger is improving and maintaining the health status of more than 9,500 people affected by the ongoing civil conflict in Nariño department, Colombia, by providing access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Project activities include: distribution of 1,900 household water tanks and 1,900 household water filter systems; restoration or extension of two collective and 100 household water supply systems, two collective basic sanitation systems and 100 latrines; distribution of 200 household emergency environmental sanitation kits and 1,900 basic hygiene kits; and, provision of training for trainers on basic hygiene practices.
