Published purpose

This project aims to reduce poverty and improve stability in selected communities of the border region by supporting locally-identified development initiatives to: (1) increase access to small-scale social services (health, education); (2) improve small-scale local infrastructure (schools, health clinics, water canals/drainage ditches); and (3) provide improved socio-economic opportunities for the poor (improved irrigations, construction of market roads.) The project is a locally-managed fund responding to small funding requests from locally-based Pakistani non-governmental organizations to assist in building capacity locally. These organizations are well-acquainted with the socio-cultural and rural development challenges of the area. International organizations and Canadian executing agencies are eligible only if they work in partnership with a local organization.
