Published purpose

The project aims to build greater freedom of the media in Ukraine through legislative and regulatory reform, the expanded use of the public access to information law and the promotion of ethical and professional standards among journalists. The project works with Ukrainian institutions to better align the legal and regulatory framework for media with European standards, mainly in the area of public broadcasting. It also supports the Ukrainian Office of the Ombudsman on Freedom of Information and Data Protection in the implementation of Ukraine's access to information law, while training journalists and civil society organizations on its application. Finally, the project helps improve the professional and ethical standards in journalism through an effective mechanism for self-regulation, which is established in close collaboration with the Journalist Ethics Committee of Ukraine.
