Published purpose

This project provides vulnerable school-aged girls and boys from Syria and Lebanon with learning opportunities within the formal education system in Lebanon. This project contributes to a program that seeks to improve the quality of education for 125,000 children in 500 public schools and strengthen the public education systems overall. Some project activities include: (1) rehabilitating water and sanitation facilities in schools where these needs are particularly acute in order to improve learning environments and support additional students; (2) working with the Lebanese Ministry of Education to support the development of institutional capacity and evidence-based policies for inclusive quality education and to facilitate the transition of children from the non-formal to the formal education system; (3) improving learning environments in 75 public schools to meet minimum standards for making the schools safe, healthy and conducive to learning for children; and (4) developing a teacher training strategy and training plan; (5) providing training for over 7,600 teachers and facilitators on child-centered teaching methodologies, active learning and positive discipline; and (6) providing training to school administrators on school-based management.
