Published purpose

The project supports the deployment of up 338 Canadian election observers (up to 300 short-term observers (STOs) and up to 38 long-term observers (LTOs)) through the Forum of Federations, to monitor the first round of the Presidential election in Ukraine on May 25, 2014, as well as a possible run-off election on June 15, 2014. The project aims to also deploy a Canadian bilateral election observer mission composed of up to 190 observers to the Parliamentary election in Ukraine on October 26, 2014. This includes approximately 40 long-term observers and 150 short-term observers who undertake electoral analysis and stakeholder engagement and support the Canadian election observer mission. This project is designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of Canadian monitoring support before, during and after the Ukrainian Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in 2014. Target beneficiaries are the people of Ukraine and key stakeholders in the electoral process who are to benefit from the observations and recommendations stemming from the mission’s final report.
