Published purpose

This project aims to enhance the capacity of United Nations peacekeeping operations to effectively implement and achieve their mandate objectives. Through the annual field visits of the UN General Assembly’s Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C-34), this project supports the participation of 5 to 10 C-34 delegates from the global south. By increasing representation and diversity, the visits have a greater impact and help to inform policymakers of the realities in peacekeeping field operations. International Peace Institute (IPI) drafts the field report and coordinate annual roundtables with field personnel and policymakers to complement the visits on peacekeeping priorities. This includes women, peace, and security and the work of C-34 to better inform decision-making on peacekeeping mandates and resource allocations.
