This project aims to scale up resilient livelihoods for women in the blue economy and improve communities’ coastal management in Kwale and Kilifi counties in Kenya. Project activities include: (1) training mangrove farming groups on restoring, conserving and value adding; (2) providing women-led seaweed cooperatives with equipment, seeds and knowledge for seaweed production and value addition; (3) providing support for conservation agriculture, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and environmental conservation; and (4) providing training on green life skills, women’s economic rights, sexual and reproductive right, and gender equality. The project aims to directly reach over 48,000 participants with nature-based solutions, including more than 24,000 women and girls, and over 400,000 people indirectly.
