Published purpose
This project aims to provide greater access to primary health care, including basic dental and gynecological services, to poor indigenous women and their families living in remote, mountainous areas of south-eastern Peru. Using three mobile clinics, professionals from private and public health institutions tour villages to deliver quality health services to beneficiaries at substantially lower costs than market price. The project is in line with the Peruvian government's strategy to facilitate access to health care for poor and vulnerable populations and is complementary to Peru's national health insurance system. The project is implemented by Impact First International (formerly GEMS of Hope), in collaboration with Pro Mujer Peru. This is one of two parts of a project valued at $319,723. The first part has been completed.
