Published purpose
This project aims to assist the municipality of Kumbo, located in the North West of Cameroon, and to work with women farmer groups to improve water supply, land uses and agriculture and agroforestry techniques. The goal of this project is to improve health of the population of Kumbo by enhancing water quantity and quality and developing strategies to protect the water catchment area on the long run and ensure water security for 60,000 users. Construction activities include: installation of soil erosion control measures, construction of silt traps, felling of problematic trees within protected areas, fencing of water sources, and restoration and stabilization of river and stream banks. Training and skill development activities include: (i) training in agroforestry, seed production and post harvest loss reduction, (ii) establishment of farming demonstration plots and fishponds, and (iii) formal and on-the-job training in operation management, records management, conflict management and conflict resolution techniques.
